For the past 28 years I have been immersed in the study & practice of Architecture with an emphasis on residential design. I am committed to providing my clients with energy efficient design & am a proponent of education relating to environmentally sustainable life choices. Over the years, I have learned much about design, technology & construction but perhaps the greatest realization has been that Architecture is not about fashion design, despite how the media portrays it. Good Architecture is first and foremost about providing functional design solutions to client situations. Quality design must react & respond to the unique conditions of the site, the program & the culture of the client. In the hands of an experienced designer trained in 3-dimensional problem solving, the aesthetics will follow. Within Nature, structure, form, function & harmony are in perpetual balance & equilibrium. I find that a well designed building is really no different than a living organism in harmony with its natural surroundings. I am always looking for clues in Nature & find many parallels between the natural & built environments. We must now find a way to coexist with the planet in a way that doesn’t depend on the depletion of its resources.
