I am a Healthcare Executive who has provided hospital leadership that generates sustainable improvements in clinical quality, patient safety, and physician engagement. I have transformed underperforming and unprofitable hospitals through greater operational efficiency and development of enhanced service lines to boost volumes. I am also recognized for creating collaborative cultures that enhance retention and facilitate recruitment. Most recently, I worked with Brookwood Baptist Health as CEO for both Walker Baptist Medical Center and Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabama, where I was a key leader who helped facilitate the Tenet-Baptist merger. Under my direction as CEO, Walker Baptist generated a 255-percent bottom-line improvement between 2017 and 2020. While President at Walker Baptist from 2009 to 2015, I turned around an unprofitable facility with bottom-line improvements of more than $14 million. I also directed the Walker Baptist acquisition of the remaining 70% stake in a local ambulatory surgery center, transitioning the facility to an outpatient department of the hospital and contributing $1 million plus to the facility’s annual bottom line. In addition, I led a number of strategic initiatives, including: Development of robotic and bariatric surgery programs Initiation of inpatient neurology and nephrology coverage Overhaul of an underperforming hospitalist program Recruitment of more than 20 physicians to enhance access to quality care in the community.I started my career on the physician practice side, eventually rising to Executive Director of Operations for Baptist Health Centers, a network of over 140 providers across 40+ locations.As an active member of the community, I have held numerous roles in professional and civic organizations, serving as a board member for Alabama Maternity, the Chamber of Commerce of Walker County, and the Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Alabama Hospital Association’s Birmingham Regional Council.
