ABOUT PATRICK MCGEE
Hi! I am a fourth-year Biomedical Engineering student extremely passionate about biomechatronics and improving quality of life through accessible prosthetics and medical devices. I currently serve as the president of the EMPOWER Student Association, a cal poly club aimed at designing and fabricating accessible, assistive devices for people in the San Luis Obispo community.I previously worked within Abbott’s Cardiac Rhythm Management division as a mechanical engineering co-op on the Mechanical Systems R&D team, contributing to the design of new high and low voltage pacemakers, insertable cardiac monitors, test fixtures, device tooling, and test methods. Most of my work at Cal Poly has been through EMPOWER, having led the development of a rock climbing and weight training prosthetic, as well as a rock climbing orthotic for a Cal Poly math professor and Team USA Paraclimber. I’m extremely proud of the work I have done and continue to do through EMPOWER and hope to make a similar impact throughout my career. I am actively seeking out opportunities to collaborate with individuals in the community and companies whose core values greatly align with mine to improve patient quality of life. Feel free to reach out, I\'d love to chat with you about any of my projects and how I can make an impact on your team!
