ABOUT BLESSING IKAKA-INAYA

I’m an experienced Information Governance and Data Protection professional, with a strong background supporting compliance in NHS trusts, local government, and non-profit organisations. I work across key areas of UK data protection law, including Subject Access Requests (SARs), Freedom of Information (FOI), records management, and privacy risk assessments.Currently, I serve as a Senior Records Management and Disclosure Officer at NHS Blood and Transplant, where I lead on complex information rights requests and support organisation-wide compliance with GDPR and FOI legislation.My career journey includes roles in local councils, NHS trusts, and the financial sector giving me a well-rounded perspective on governance, service improvement, and risk management. I combine this with academic training in finance and certified knowledge in data protection and information rights.Alongside my professional work:I serve as a Trustee at the CGD Society, advising on GDPR compliance, data ethics, and policy development for a rare disease charity.I’m the Founder of The Compliance Corner with Blessing, a platform where I simplify data protection and FOI through practical guides, templates, and weekly insights. I support small teams, freelancers, and charities, as well as professionals transitioning into or growing within the IG and privacy field.What drives me is a commitment to accessible, inclusive, and practical compliance making privacy work for real-world teams, not just legal frameworks.I’m always open to connecting with others in the IG and privacy space whether you’re navigating compliance in the public sector, transitioning into the field, or already working in it.I’m also open to mentoring, guest writing, speaking engagements, and collaborations focused on data protection, information governance, and public interest tech.Let’s connect.
