About Blake K. Smith
Blake Kevin Smith MSN, RN leads nationally in men’s health awareness advocation, male inclusion in the nursing profession, and currently serves as the youngest National President for the American Association for Men in Nursing (AAMN) in its 49 year history. Smith earned a degree in Exercise Science Research from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, NE in 2008 and a BSN from Nebraska Methodist College in Omaha, NE in 2012. At Nebraska Methodist College he was awarded the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation New Careers in Nursing Scholarship, and attended the AACN Student Policy Academy in Washington, DC after graduation. Since graduation, Smith has presented internationally on the importance of diversity in the nursing workforce as well as developing the first chapter of the AAMN in the state of Nebraska. Before earning his BSN, Smith was a Physical Therapy Tech and Sports Conditioning Coach, specializing in pediatric rehabilitation. He also was an Assistant Head Coach for Lincoln East Boys’ Soccer in Lincoln, NE, which won a national award for best coaching staff all-sports from the National High School Sports Association in 2010. Smith earned his Graduate degree in Nursing Health Systems Administration MSN track at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2017 and plans to earn a DNP focusing on Nursing Administration and Finance. He hopes his passion for nursing can help ensure that more nurses hold leadership positions in both hospital administration and community health organizations. “Being able to impact others and see them succeed brings myself more joy than any personal accomplishment could ever have.\"
