About Blair Glennon
From the first computer I took apart as a kid to building real-time integration software for Government systems, my life has always been about solving problems with technology. The bigger the problem, the more data available, and the more cutting-edge the solution, the happier I am. Through both personal and professional pursuits, I have extensive experience with software design, issue analysis and resolution, system prototyping, requirements gathering, and system testing.I\'ve had the opportunity to see the real power of data in action; from scaling feedback submitted by millions of Windows Insider users worldwide, to building measurement frameworks that connect product decisions with business outcomes. I believe data can both illuminate the subtle nuances of a problem and illustrate solutions that drive real change. You have to think big to get to the real problems and start making meaningful impact. Whether I\'m quantifying customer friction, illustrating success via executive dashboards/scorecards, or defining metrics that align cross-functional teams, I\'m constantly looking for ways to turn data into actionable insights that improve customer experiences and business results.Data and technology are the nouns and verbs to my story, business and strategy are the background and narrative.
Experience
Principal Data Scientist
Jan 2025 — Present
Principal Data Scientist focused on redefining how Windows measured success by building systems that connected product usage to business outcomes and customer experience. I led the development and execution of multiple SLT scorecards through the fiscal years and Microsoft Plus metrics, which became the foundation for executive forums and reduced reporting prep time from weeks to days. These tools enabled consistent storytelling across product, finance, and data teams and influenced long-range planning through Growth Cohorts - a collaboration across marketing, data science, product teams, and finance to establish consistent customer definitions and LTV-based models that directly tied product investments to business outcomes.I provided thought leadership to take an undefined problem space to one where advanced data science techniques including causal analysis could run, based on deep understanding of diverse data collection and scaling to accurately quantify our customers\' experience. This work helped quantify \'noise\' in Windows (ads, notifications, and system changes) elevating customer friction as a measurable input to retention and satisfaction. I drove adoption of OKRs across Windows, and building scalable reporting systems across the organization. I also mentored early-career talent, led Fix Hack Learn initiatives, and scaled learnings across teams thru a weekly review of our core business product metrics, helping establish data-driven decision making as a core practice for the Windows organization.
