About Biswajit A.
My PhD research at IISc Bangalore focuses on SiC-based grid-forming inverters for weak grids, addressing stability challenges that arise when high switching frequencies reduce filter impedance relative to grid impedance across varying grid strengths.At the Power Electronics and Renewables Lab (PERL), we developed a three-phase SiC inverter platform in-house, driven by a strong and collaborative team. This work spans gate drivers, LCL filter design with optimal damping, custom digital control hardware using TI controllers, and hardware validation.As part of this effort, I am developing an inverter-based grid emulator, enabling controlled emulation of different grid strengths and impedance conditions to systematically test grid-forming and grid-connected converters under realistic weak-grid scenarios.Through leading these efforts, I have built strengths in hardware-aware control design, weak-grid modeling, system-level thinking, and experimental validation. I also gained hands-on experience in power hardware and thermal design, including heatsink design and fan selection, for reliable high-power operation.
