We act for a range of public and private sector clients, including professionals, contractors, developers, sub-contractors and owner occupiers. DISPUTES We pride ourselves on our proactive approach to dispute resolution. A lot of our dispute work revolves around adjudication, but we provide advice on all forms of dispute resolution through from the more conciliatory approach of mediation to the bringing or defending of proceedings both in arbitration or court. We are known for our no-nonsense, cost effective approach to disputes, whether when they have formally arisen or advising during the course of projects. Our team is able to draw on years of experience in dealing with matters - and we are made up of lawyers who do construction law, and nothing else.DEVELOPMENTWe provide detailed legal advice on all aspects of procurement together with advice on how best to structure transactions working closely with our commercial property colleagues to provide advice on construction issues arising out of developments. We advise on all the different forms of construction documentation, including professional appointments, building contracts (we are familiar with all standard forms including JCT, NEC, ICE, GC/Works and the other more specialist forms) and the preparation of sub-contracts. We also draft all ancillary documentation, including parent company guarantees, performance bonds, retention bonds and collateral warranties.FUNDINGWe act for a range of commercial lenders on all forms of development / project transactions. We advise on the forms of bank documentation that are required as part of any transaction ranging in size from £1m to £50m. The team has extensive experience in commercial, residential and mixed use schemes; regeneration and brown-field projects; schemes involving new technologies; and projects seeking the highest sustainability and environmental standards.
