Experience
Programme Specialist (Gender-responsive Climate Action)
Oct 2024 — Present · NY, US
As a Programme Specialist for Gender-Responsive Climate Action at UN Women, I lead one of the organization’s global programmes on gender and climate. In this role, I oversee the day-to-day technical implementation of the programme, ensuring strong coordination, strategic alignment and impact across teams. This includes managing workplans and budgets, providing technical guidance to staff and partners, recruiting and supervising consultants, and contributing to robust monitoring, evaluation, and donor reporting.I also provide policy guidance, technical assistance, and capacity development to strengthen UN Women’s leadership in gender-responsive climate action and resilience. My work supports countries, particularly developing countries in the Global South, to close gender gaps in climate policies, Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and National Adaptation Plans (NAPs). Working closely with relevant colleagues from UN Women\'s Regional and Country Offices, I provide technical assistance to build the capacities of national gender and climate focal points, national gender equality mechanisms and women’s civil society organizations to lead and participate meaningfully in climate and environmental action across all levels. In addition, as the Generation Equality\'s Thematic Lead for Climate Justice, I coordinate a multistakeholder partnerships platform to foster partners\' engagement across intergovernmental climate and environmental processes, convening national, regional, and global dialogues to strengthen the gender focus of climate strategies and ensure women’s voices and leadership are central to global climate amd environmental action.
