1) In charge of new R&D project initiation through market opportunity identification, 3C analysis, as well as proof of concept experiments for technical feasibility & validation - from Market to Technology. 2) Develop new material concept, establish and solidify different technology platforms (e.g. material formulation and processing, surface treatment, seperation technologies, composite materials), define the application based on each platform - from Technology to Market. 3) Examples of managed projects- Functional films and Surface chemistry: Anti fingerprint films; Anti reflection film; Super hydrophobic/oleophobic surfaces- Catalytic materials: Photo catalyst; Selective catalytic reduction; Gas sensing catalyst- Nano materials and processing: Anti microbial coatings; Gas decomposition coatings- Ceramic material and Composites: Phosphor ceramic; Biocompatible composites; 4) Communicate closely with business development team for thorough understanding of the target market and customer requirements. 5) Lead multiple teams for new material development and applications (e.g. functional ceramic materials, nano material synthesis, processing and manufacturing, composite) through solid material composition-structure-property understanding. 6) Construct road map and milestones by working with business development team and headquarter business and manufacturing divisions. 7) Provide direction and priorities to research teams to meet deliverable technical targets and timeline. 8) Define external resources and proceed for consultation and joint development. 9) Provide recommendation on patent filing based on R&D development using solid experience on patenting process.
