I work operationally within the North West Regional Operations Centre, managing real-time traffic incidents and helping keep England’s strategic road network safe, efficient, and reliable. Working under the 2004 Traffic Management Act, I handle emergency calls, dispatch resources, and coordinate with emergency services to minimize disruption and restore traffic flow quickly.Key Responsibilities:• Respond to emergency calls, provide guidance, and dispatch Traffic Officers• Monitor incidents, set signs, and control signals using traffic management systems• Coordinate with emergency services and utility companies to reduce delays• Manage motorway and A-road closures, ensuring diversion routes are in place and clearly communicated• Liaise with internal teams to provide timely updates to external stakeholders• Process road maintenance requests to ensure safe and prompt reopenings• Maintain accurate incident logs and share critical updates• Support post-incident recovery to restore normal traffic flow efficientlyCore Competencies:• Real-time incident management• Emergency call handling and dispatch• Radio operations and CCTV monitoring• Incident coordination with emergency services• Closure and diversion route management• Traffic sign and signal control• Incident reporting and stakeholder communication
