About Bill Wepfer
My Dear Friends and Colleagues (60•••20): Thanks for all of your best wishes concerning one of my work anniversaries. However, a confession is herewith revealed: I am a social media outcast, lurker, and shirker! OUTCAST because I will never be a user of Facebook or Twitter. LURKER as I ask my wife to share anything of value that she might glean from her Facebook feed, and a SHIRKER as I rarely post and allowed my LinkedIn page to age beyond my ASME Board of Governors termer which expired in June 2019. So I have dutifully corrected my error by posting an update. Retirement has been great even though the COVID-19 crisis is a bummer with the lack of travel and meeting and seeing friends, family and neighbors….but this too will end. Even though my term on the ASME BOG ended, I was recently elected as ABET President “elect-elect” by the ABET Board of Delegates. I will serve as ABET President during their 2021-22 Fiscal year. I am keeping busy with a bevy of ABET zoom calls…….but far fewer zoomerangs that if I were still full time employed! Thanks again for all of your best wishes! Bill I want to take this opportunity to thank the thousands of individuals (faculty, staff, students, alumni, and over LinkedIn connections) who have made my time at Georgia Tech such a joyful ride (I retired on April 1, 2018). Being a faculty member at Georgia Tech is one of the best positions in the world: you get to discover new knowledge and create new “things” with incredible students and colleagues while at the same time, disseminating and sharing this knowledge with your students as you prepare them for both happiness and success in their lives and professions. I will continue to be among the strongest advocates and cheerleaders for the Woodruff School and I ask that you give my successor, Sam Graham, the same extraordinary support you have given me. Thank You!
