I Joined Bloomberg in 1992 because I wanted to take a chance. Bloomberg was a fast growing, energetic, and exciting place to work and learn about Finance. Then this happened.Bloomberg was a rocket and I was just trying not to fall off. I did get my butt burned a few times. As a matter of fact I still do.I was getting an awesome education in business that was priceless. Not many people have the opportunity to participate in a company that is growing as rapidly as this. After starting at Bloomberg supporting our newly formed Asia offices I worked in customer support/sales. Working with some of the best people and talking to some of the smartest clients over the phone and in person I was able to not only help Bloomberg grow, but I was able to learn how the Financial Markets and business really worked. Eventually, I ran Bloomberg’s Customer Service Desk globally. I got the opportunity to do so with some of the best, nicest, brightest and most loyal colleagues. In this role I also had the opportunity to interact directly with Mike (there is only one Mike at Bloomberg) as customer service was and is very important to him. I then moved to manage one of Bloomberg’s SQA groups. Joining a group of dedicated people who not only were great at what they did, but also helped me learn so much about software testing, and Bloomberg’s Trading System Products.Now in Bloomberg’s Data division I manage several different areas. I get to work on cool projects with the sharpest minds inside and outside of Bloomberg. We are pushing the boundaries of Big Data, Machine Learning, Alternative Data and Crowdsourcing. While at the same time exploring the world of IoT, Satellite Imagery, Data Creation, Data Wrangling, Data Science along with several other new ideas that we just may want to have some fun with.It has been an inspirational, educational, exciting and fun ride so far and each day I work to make sure it keeps going that way for myself and the people I work with.
