Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. My Doctorate is in the self-loosening of threaded fasteners. I founded Bolt Science Limited in January 1992 to provide solutions to bolting and fastener problems. I have developed the company so that it has become one of the leading sources of advice in this field. I have extensive experience in the design and analysis of bolted joints and have published several articles on the subject. The work that I have completed includes fastener and joint failure investigation and the determination of its causes. This work has covered automotive, marine, aerospace, plant, and machine tool industries. I have acted as an Expert Witness in major accidents involving fasteners and conducted training courses in various parts of the world on the technical aspects of bolting.I am a member of the British Standards FME/9 Committee on Fasteners, the ISO Technical Committee 1 on Threads, and I\'m a member of the Working Party updating the ISO 16047 standard on Fastener Torque - Clamp Force Testing.

ABOUT BILL ECCLES
I have been interested in the technical aspects of fasteners and bolted joints for over forty years. Threaded fasteners are simple in concept, but the more you study them the more you realise their complexities. Most Engineers will, at some time, in their career will encounter a bolting problem. My goals is to continue learning about this fascinating topic and to further add to the body of knowledge in this field. Specialties: Technical aspects of threaded fasteners and bolting.
