About Bill Dorotinsky
Bill Dorotinsky is a global name in public finance, performance and results, governance and development issues. A leader, practitioner, and sought-after public speaker, he regularly represents the World Bank Group in international fora. Leadership, innovation, improving as well as measuring performance, have been the leitmotifs of Mr. Dorotinsky\'s life, whether as a high school student leader, University of Michigan student government president, U.S. Federal official, international civil servant, or local community leader. He has a life-long track-record of excellence and results.Dorotinsky today is with the World Bank’s Governance Global Practice, and was a driving force behind the Governance Practice, previously founded the global expert team on public sector performance, and was the driving force behind the Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (PEFA) framework - the international standard for national public finance systems. He also served as an IMF Deputy Division Chief, co-founding their Public Financial Management blog. Over his distinguished career, Dorotinsky served with the U.S. Federal Government Office of Management and Budget, where among many roles he held a secondment as deputy chief finance officer with the District of Columbia during its mid-1990\'s financial crisis, and served on the Clinton Administration\'s Health Care Reform Task Force. He was also a U.S. Treasury resident advisor to the Governments of Hungary, Argentina and Croatia. He has numerous publications, and forthcoming is paper reviewing the oversight of state-owned enterprises in southern Africa.In 2014, Dorotinsky received the International Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Government Accountants for advancing public sector financial performance internationally.
