MILITARY EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING. Participates in planning, providing, and evaluating patient care. Organizes the medical environment and directs support activities in patient care situations, including disasters. Performs duties as an Independent Duty Medical Technician (IDMT) or aeromedical evacuation technician; In the absence of a physician, performs physical evaluations and diagnostic testing. Carries out a treatment plan and follow-up, performs allergy and immunology functions. Provides patient treatment as needed and knows limitations of treatment facility. Activates aeromedical evacuation as needed as supports patient during that process. Administers in-service programs as needed. Role and responsibilities of the IDMT include concepts of human behavior; standards of discipline; effective counseling techniques; methods or orientation new personnel; principles of motivating individuals within a group; evolution of management theory; personnel management skills; and applied problem-solving techniques in management, social issues, and labor relations. Applies principles of oral and written communications by analyzing methods for improving listening and lessening barriers to effective communication and writing principles. Versed the military justice system and the relationship of US foreign domestic policies for military readiness. Provided mandatory training for medical service personnel assigned to a small medical clinic at isolated stations in the absence off a physician. performed basic lab procedures pertinent to the suspected disease or condition necessary to arrive at a medical impression; render emergency treatment within their capability or recommend evacuation to locality where medical treatment facilities are available. Performs functions relative to preventative medicine in veterinary inspections in the absence of veterinary personnel. In small medical facilities trained non-professional personnel. Areas of study include human growth and development. from conception to death. Directs and oversees compliance of processes and operations in a wide range of services primarily to the adult and adolescent client who needs care in the home setting. Under the direction of the clients case manager, the Home Care Team helps patients, families and caregivers manage acute illness, disability or long-term recovery needs. Patients, families and caregivers are encouraged to participate in planning and learning their care.
