ABOUT BILAL A. AKASH

Bilal A. Akash has obtained his B.S, M.S, and Ph.D. degrees from Southern Illinois University in 1984, 1987, and 1992, respectively. In 2003, he was promoted to Full Professor of Mechanical Engineering. During his more than 30 years of academic experience he has worked in several academic institutions: Prior to his current position at Purdue University, Bilal served as Dean of engineering at Middle East University (20••••23); Provost at American International University, Kuwait (20••••21); Dean of Engineering at Emirates College of Technology, Abu Dahbi, UAE (20••••20); Dean of Engineering/ Dean of Graduate Studies & Research at American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK), UAE (20••••19); Interim Provost at AURAK, UAE (20••••17); Dean of Engineering at Dhofar University, Oman (20••••13); Professor of mechanical engineering and founding faculty of engineering at King Faisal University, KSA (20••••11); Vice Dean and Department Chair at Hashemite University, Jordan (20••••07); faculty member at Qatar University Applied Science University, Jordan University of Jordan (19••••94), and Southern Illinois University, USA (19••••93). Bilal is author and coauthor of more than 100 articles in international journals and conferences with a Scopus h-index of 29 and Google Scholar h-index of 41. His research work is mostly in the area of thermal science, which includes thermodynamic analysis of internal combustion and power engines, combustion, pyrolysis and liquefaction of solid fossil fuels, heat transfer, sustainability, energy analysis and engineering systems, solar distillation, renewable and alternative energy desalination.
