ABOUT BICKY BIR
Psychological counselling can enable you to increase your self-awareness which opens up the choices available to us. The NHS is an advocate of counselling and claim that talking therapies can be just as or more effective than medication. Based in Langley, Slough, I offer counselling services to Berkshire and the surrounding areas. As a qualified psychotherapist, I will support you to travel on this therapeutic journey in expressing your vulnerability, broaden your understanding and have greater self-acceptance. I can help you explore your sense of happiness and move through a journey of self- discovery to increase confidence and improve communication. I qualified as a therapist in 2004 and am a Registered Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I offer counselling in English, Punjabi and Hindi. My aim is to provide a friendly, respectful and non- judgemental safe environment in which you are able to safely explore any issues that might bring you to therapy. I have gained invaluable practical experience working with people from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Trust is crucial in all relationships and through our exploration, we will aim for self-development, enhanced self-esteem and wellbeing. In both short and longer term work, techniques from a number of theoretical approaches such as psychodynamic and CBT may be used. I work collaboratively, adapting my approach to the needs and objectives of each person. I work with an integrative and person centred approach. This approach can also work well for clients who are experiencing stress and relationship difficulties. I have experience of counselling in many areas including Mental Health, Prisons, Schools, NHS referrals, amongst others. All sessions are client led and my role is to provide clients with space to explore, reflect on their lives, relationships, emotions, feelings and thought processes (be it conscious or unconscious material) in an empathetic, non-judgemental and congruent manner. COVID-19 (Coronavirus) It can be difficult to maintain our mental health and well-being when coping with so much uncertainty and turmoil at home and at work. COVID-19 has caused a considerable degree of fear, worry and concern. In mental health terms, the main psychological impact is elevated rates of stress and anxiety. At ARR Counselling you will be talking to a trained professional counsellor that can offer you the support and guidance required through these difficult times.
