About Bianca Fortis
I\'m currently an education reporter at New York Focus. Most recently I was an Abrams Reporting Fellow at ProPublica, where I published an 18-month investigation into the cover-up of sexual abuse by an obstetrician-gynecologist at Columbia University, which resulted in protests and a campaign to hold the university accountable. Previously I worked for the Brown Institute’s Documenting COVID-19 project, for Columbia Journalism Investigations’ cross-borders data project and with the New York Times team that tracked coronavirus cases across the United States. My work has appeared in CalMatters, the Detroit Free Press, VICE, NBC News and other outlets. My background is in traditional print reporting. For several years I wrote for community newspapers. My reporting brought me from the foothills of an active volcano to the halls of the White House. I received my master’s degree from the Toni Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism at Columbia University.
