Conduct and support the NOAA AFSC Groundfish Assessment Program’s Alaska Bottom Trawl Surveys as a Deck Lead & Field Party Chief, and apply knowledge of survey design and sampling principles to conduct research trawls, collect accurate data, and validate data with computer assisted applications-Conduct independent and team research supporting the development of new and improved mathematical and statistical models for estimating abundance of groundfish in Alaska-PI on three research projects focused on 1) investigating large scale movement of Pacific cod in the eastern and northern Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska using satellite and acoustic telemetry, 2) validating the use of fish fatmeter readings as a potential physiological condition indicator in Pacific cod and walleye pollock, 3) assessing the physiological stress response to fishing capture in Pacific cod and Pacific halibut-Prepare written results detailing the data, methods, and outcomes of the research; contribute to and write specialized reports, peer-reviewed papers and publications; and present oral and poster presentations
