ABOUT BIANCA MAYES

As the National Director of Black Health Equity at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, I spearhead federation-wide initiatives focused on health equity, strategic planning, leadership development, and technical assistance for 600 health centers, including direct engagement with affiliate CEOs. With over 10 years of dedicated service in the public health sector, my passion lies in dismantling health disparities and removing barriers for communities facing the most profound inequities. In my current capacity, I serve as senior leadership, forging crucial strategic partnerships with national experts in health equity and sexual and reproductive health. As an Adjunct Professor at Monmouth University, I build strong relationships with students and mentor them on their personal, professional, and academic goals to ensure success. I also lecture and provide support materials using visual, aural, and social learning modalities to facilitate the learning process. I am a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and an active member of the New Jersey Society for Public Health Education, partnering with public health stakeholders to assess local needs and promote health education and equity to 21 NJ counties. I am also a committee member for the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) Advisory Council and co-chair of the New Jersey HIV/AIDS Health Planning Group Issues Committee. In recognition of my work in the field, I was honored with the Human Rights Advocacy Award by RWJUH’s Proud Gender Center of NJ, and named #79 on Insider New Jersey’s Annual Out Powerlist. I am deeply committed to public health, race and health inequities, sexual and reproductive health, and health promotion and community education.
