View department →

Toronto, ON, CA

Coordinate multiple single- and multicentre clinical research studies focused on atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, including device-based (pacemakers and defibrillators), pharmacologic (anticoagulant and antiarrhythmic), and procedural (cardioversion and ablation) interventions. I also contribute to a comprehensive in-hospital cardiac arrest and critical care outcomes database by conducting detailed chart reviews and extracting treatment details and outcomes from all hospital code blue responses to support research and quality improvement efforts. At the national coordinating site, I oversee operations for the CanROC EpiDOSE Trial—a multicentre randomized controlled trial evaluating low-dose versus standard-dose epinephrine in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. My work spans regulatory and ethics submissions, study kit preparation and tracking, data management, and site training and oversight, along with contributions to protocol updates and statistical analysis plan development.

ABOUT BIANCA FLAIM

I’m a health sciences graduate passionate about advancing healthcare through clinical research and innovation. I recently completed my Master of Health Sciences (MHSc) in Medical Physiology, where I explored the intersection of cardiology, human performance, and translational medicine. I bring 4 years experience in clinical research coordination in cardiology, emergency medicine, critical care, and pediatrics, where I’ve worked directly with patients, physicians, and research teams at St. Michael’s Hospital and SickKids. I’ve developed expertise in participant recruitment, data collection, operational process improvement, and study management, and have a strong interest in translating research findings into meaningful improvements in patient care.I’m interested in opportunities combining medicine, technology, and innovation to improve patient experiences and outcomes through clinical research. My goal is to stay closely connected to the patient experience while driving progress at the intersection of clinical insight, medical innovation, and patient-centered design.
