ABOUT BHUMI GOWDA
I am a teaching assistant working with children with ASD, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, congenital heart conditions, ADHD, OCD, and other mental health issues. My role involves implementing individualised education plans by practising positive behavioural techniques and TeamTeach training to create a safe and fun learning environment for pupils.I have completed a postgraduate degree in Clinical Neuroscience from the Queen Square Institute of Neuroscience, UCL. My modules covered strokes, dementia, paroxysmal diseases, motor neuron diseases, cognitive functions of the brain and statistics (STATA). During the program, I completed a scoping review on interventions for Chronic Idiopathic Urinary Retention conditions and proposed a psychological intervention for Fowler\'s syndrome. My work was recognised at the International Neuro-Urology Conference 2025 in Zermatt, Switzerland. Additionally, I shadowed neurologists and neuropsychologists at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, and administered neuropsychological assessments on patients with Parkinson\'s disease.I established a practical and theoretical foundation in mental health through my undergraduate degree in Clinical Psychology (BSc). Here, I learned to administer psychological assessments, interpret the results and write reports. I explored social, clinical, forensic, physiological, counselling, developmental and cognitive psychology through the program and co-authored a published research report on Impostor Syndrome and Parenting Styles.I am exploring ways of integrating my psychology and neuroscience background for a career in neuropsychology. I am open to any opportunities—whether as a volunteer, assistant, or through shadowing—to work and gain practical insight into clinical neuropsychology
