About Brian Hertz

Brian Hertz has been part of Waste Management’s Corporate Development and Innovation team since June 2020. In this role, Brian manages internal projects that seek to expand Waste Management’s adjacent service offerings and capabilities, as well as customer-focused innovation projects that help to cultivate strategic partnerships in order to directly meet the needs of our customers. Brian also drives shareholder value and transparency through WM’s corporate sustainability reporting, where he manages key aspects of our facility-level utility data reporting and provides content for WM’s CDP and Dow Jones Sustainability Index responses.Previously, Brian worked in Waste Management’s Sustainability Services Consulting group, engaging with customers within a variety of segments including Food and Retail, Manufacturing and Industrial, Commercial Properties, and Stadiums, Arenas and Events. This project work focused on data collection and analysis, including waste diversion metrics, water use tracking, and reporting of greenhouse gas and other emissions.Brian graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and completed a Bridging Disciplines Interdisciplinary Certificate in Environment. In addition to holding a Professional Engineering license (in Texas), Brian has earned a wide variety of sustainability-related credentials including LEED Accredited Professional (EB: O+M), WELL Accredited Professional, Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) and TRUE Advisor.
