Designed and built a highly scalable microservice from scratch using Java 17, Spring Boot 3.2.0, MySQL 8.0.33 database, and Multithreading, which consumes events from Kafka and sends events to Mixpanel (a third-party panel where analysts can analyse data in real-time and can create dashboards, funnels, etc, to track user interaction) in real-time.In which,Implemented functionalities like Consumption, Caching, Rate-limiting, Batching, Shutdown Hook, and Recovery, and created Metrics on Grafana for alerting and monitoring by pushing data to InfluxDB, etc. This service can send up to 1.8 million events per minute or even more to Mixpanel (if server-side rate limiting is increased).3. Optimised an in-house API, achieving a 70-80% improvement in response time.6. Upgraded multiple applications from Java 8 to Java 17, enhancing overall efficiency by 5-10%.7. Downscaled several components both horizontally and vertically for cost optimisation, resulting in a 10-15% reduction in server costs.
