I am a Passionate Biotech Professional and believe that Biotechnology is a tool that can be applied in diverse fields of Science and Technology. Life inspires creativity and I want my career to reflect the same; inspiring and innovative ideas arising from the biology of this planet to produce sustainable products and services.I majored in Biotechnology during my undergraduate program at Punjab Agricultural University, India. I earned my master’s degree from the Department of Biology-Microbiology at South Dakota State University. My thesis research focused on evaluating the role of three candidate genes in soybean nodule development using RNA interference and CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing in composite hairy root plants. We found two important genes involved in auxin transport and phosphate homeostasis respectively that affected symbiotic nodule phenotype in soybean.As an R&D Microbiologist with Houdek (Brookings, SD), I worked in a multidisciplinary team with my expertise in biology and biotechnology to improve Houdek\'s aerobic fermentation and unit operations. I have led efforts as part of multiple teams to introduce advanced quality checkpoints and process improvements throughout the plant. The goal of which was that the finished product exceeded the highest quality and safety standards conforming to GMP, FSMA and SQF specifications.I have demonstrated the skill and ability to be agile in learning new competencies over the years. While at Houdek, I was able to utilize my molecular biology training to support company initiatives directly. I was also able to achieve new proficiencies, for example, learning how to operate pilot equipment, utilize process documentation (P & ID’s, PFD’s, Process Narratives, etc.), and work in large scale operations to solve problems in manufacturing. In addition, I have led hands-on workshops and training sessions on advanced analytical techniques for the front-line staff, which enhanced their technical expertise and facilitated theaccomplishment of company goals.

   I work in a cross functional team using my expertise in biology and biotechnology to improve Houdek\'s precision fermentation process. By studying enzyme capabilities in different environmental stimuli, we are able to breakdown complex fibers in our process to improve bioavailability and digestibility in our protein ingredient. Our efforts improve animal health and contribute to the larger goal of improving sustainability in global food chains.
