About Bhavana Akella
Love for great storytelling and the power of words to reflect upon and steer the world\'s actions drew me towards journalism and communications. I have been a journalist with an experience in political, business reporting, feature writing and editing for various Indian and international publications, including IANS news wire, The Hindu, The Times of India and Deccan Chronicle. My stories have been picked up by global news outlets, including International Business Times, Yahoo, India West, Economic Times, Outlook, among others. I had the opportunity of representing media houses at international conferences like the Asian Financial Forum in Hong Kong, 11.11 Global Shopping Fest by Alibaba in Shanghai, Dell\'s Women Entrepreneur Network in Toronto, among others. With a strong foundation gained from working at a news agency covering multiple beats at the same time, I bring to my work not just speed, but also accuracy and attention to detail, which are much-needed but often missing in newsrooms. Stories of human interest, aerospace & science and those exploring food cultures excite me the most. I studied journalism & communications from Manipal University, India. I was also a recipient of Germany\'s DAAD scholarship for my study at University of Applied Sciences, Bremen, where I learnt various aspects of journalism and international relations. Through my work, I aim to reimagine the direction of news media\'s future.
