Bhargavi Varma is an entrepreneur, angel investor, and the founder of Brown Girl Angels, a collective dedicated to addressing the representation gap in angel investing by mobilizing South Asian women to become angel investors. The mission of Brown Girl Angels is to build the leading ecosystem of South Asian female angel investors. BGA is committed to fostering more inclusive and equitable access to resources and funding by tapping into the potential of brown girl investable capital.Since the start of her angel investing journey, Bhargavi encountered many other women with the financial resources and desire to angel invest in diverse, female founder-led brands. The common pain point? Being hindered by a lack of knowledge and access. Brown Girl Angels was created to bridge this gap and empower brown women to activate their capital with purpose, impact and potential opportunities for return.Prior to Brown Girl Angels, Bhargavi co-founded LuxStory, a boutique marketing agency passionate about connection, collaboration and storytelling. At LuxStory, Bhargavi and her team helped amplify the stories of inspiring brands through a multi-disciplinary approach spanning strategy, branding, social media, PR, and content creation.In 2020, LuxStory launched its first consumer brand, The Kushie. Born out of a desire to provide comfort for a common pain point – cold feet – The Kushie offers a plush foot cushion that feels like a warm hug for your feet at work, travel, and play.
