About Bharath Pillai
Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at The Ohio State University, with a specialization in computer systems and a minor in Robotics and Autonomous Systems. I am an Undergraduate Researcher at the ReRout Lab, where I work at the intersection of computing, remote sensing, and ecology to analyze wildlife behavior, habitat dynamics, and land-use patterns using drones, camera traps, and bioacoustic sensors.My research includes designing and implementing distributed edge-computing architectures for large-scale environmental monitoring. I work with edge devices that aggregate data from nearby sensors, perform on-device AI inference and selectively transmit high-value events upstream. Designing systems to operate under real-world constraints such as limited connectivity and power availability, incorporating local storage, solar-compatible hardware, and resilient networking.
