Device configuration provides the devices or clients to retrieve the configuration which can either be an XML or a JSON which is stored in the database. The request from the device comes to device configuration (via SES or APIGEE which are the only trusted sources which take care of authenticating the request and the device) and the application will dispatch a base64 encoded configuration in the response. The devices / clients are programmed to hit the device configuration server at regular intervals to retrieve the updated version of configuration. Device/client teams update these configuration files to roll out new features, enable / disable certain features. Based on the device/client needs, the application will process the XML/JSON and dispatch the same.
