About Bharat Balan

Bharat is a Pulmonary & Critical Care fellow at Northwestern University. He previously worked as a MICU Hospitalist at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA and completed his Internal Medicine residency at the Hospital of The University of Pennsylvania with a focus in medical education and Interventional Pulmonology research. He graduated with Doctor of Medicine and Master of Science degrees from Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine with a basic science research focus on heart failure and clinical research focus on underserved populations. As a curriculum representative and peer mentor he has also cultivated a strong passion for medical education and student mentoring. He is organized, adaptable and creative with superb oral/written communication skills. He is proud to carry an inextinguishable passion for medicine that fuels his drive to make communities healthier. He is passionate about advances in medical education, clinical outcomes and mentorship in the health sciences. He hopes to bring these skills and much more to his future ventures, with the ultimate goal of being a competent and compassionate academic physician.
