ABOUT BARRY CRISP

Barry Crisp is an experienced leader with direct experience in supply chain (in manufacturing and logistics) as well as site engineering, project management, process excellence and planning. Before moving in to ecommerce he worked for two large manufacturing groups, leading operations, supply chains, developing strategies and managing major projects in many different countries including the UK, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Thailand and Mexico. His technical experience has been gained in many different industries, primarily plastics, textiles and ceramics but also FMCG and brewing. The teams that he has led have varied from 50 to over 500. The goal for Barry when leading a factory, a supply chain or any engineering team is simply to make it better. The improvements come in quality, yield, productivity, cost and, above all, in the customer experience by better managing all available resources. Tools that he has deployed have included Kaizen, 5S, SMED and elements of 6 Sigma but his main strength is in Lean, bringing down Work in Progress, shortening throughput times and eliminating waste wherever he finds it.Several of his projects have involved closing factories and managing them through the process from announcement to last production day and dismantling. He has also designed and built new factories and warehouses, as well as managing significant expansions, re-organisations and other large capital projects.
