About Bart Golub
All human struggles are fundamentally about how we relate—to partners, family, friends, colleagues, and ourselves. The symptoms we treat in therapy are almost always relational problems in disguise.I spent nearly two decades learning to read people. In casinos, I studied the psychology of motivation—the gap between what people say they want and what they actually respond to. In tech sales, I managed teams and kept choosing genuine connection over political advancement (which cost me several jobs but taught me what I actually valued). That journey led me to Columbia for my Master\'s in Social Work and to the work I do now.During my studies, I discovered Alfred Adler\'s Individual Psychology through \"The Courage to Be Disliked.\" Adler understood something most modern therapy has forgotten: mental health is fundamentally about connection. His concepts—social interest, private logic, the life tasks—offered a complete theory of human motivation. But they remained abstract, hard to measure, difficult to apply systematically. So I built the tools to operationalize them.RELATIONAL CAPACITY THERAPY (RCT) is a clinical framework that translates Adlerian psychology into five measurable capacities:• Vulnerability — The capacity for authentic self-disclosure and emotional risk• Emotional Intelligence — The capacity to understand and work with emotions• Compersion — The capacity for joy in others\' happiness (the opposite of jealousy)• Relational Confidence — The capacity for stable self-worth in connection• Agreements — The capacity to navigate boundaries, conflict, and repairTHE RELATIONAL MATURITY INDEX (RMI) assesses these capacities across 25 sub-dimensions. The assessment identifies your relational archetype—one of ten patterns that describe how capacities combine in characteristic ways. It reveals not just who you are, but how you got there and where you can grow.I work with individuals, couples, and polycules who are ready to stop fitting into boxes and start building something that actually works for them. My practice is grounded in one conviction: the best practices for polyamory are the best practices for monogamy—and for parenting, friendships, and work. Healthy relating looks the same everywhere.Take the free RMI assessment: InterpersonalPsychology.com
