ABOUT BEV THORPE

I have advanced clean production strategies since the 1980s when I was a Greenpeace Toxics campaigner in the UK working to advance solutions to hazardous waste generation. As the first Clean Production programme officer for Greenpeace International, I helped national offices promote safer alternatives to organochlorines and PVC plastic, while representing the organization in European and United Nations Cleaner Production networks. In I and a few colleagues formed Clean Production Action and over the past 20 years the organization has grown into a pragmatic provider of tools and strategies to implement safer chemicals in products and manufacturing using GreenScreen for Safer Chemicals and chemical footprint tools. My current focus is the transformation of the chemical industry and I am the author of the 2022 \'Safer Substitutes and Solutions\' policy paper of The Louisville Charter (pdf) https://bit.ly/3TgI44t I am an annual lecturer at Lund University, Sweden on chemical health impacts and strategies for safer chemicals adoption. My previous Board positions include The Story of Stuff Project and Board Director of Greenpeace International.
