ABOUT BETTY ZAKHEIM
I love the software industry. Frankly, I really can’t think of anything I’d rather do for a living. I\'ve been a developer, development manager, product manager, product marketing manager, independent consultant, start up exec and Gartner analyst. I\'ve been very fortunate. I\'m usually associated with very complex products that have very technical users. My engineering background allows me to have deep customer empathy for the users of these products. After all, chances are very good that I used similar products when I was an engineer. I don’t code anymore. Now, I spend my time connecting innovative best practices and great products with the people that can really use them, and improving those products so that they’re even better for the next generation of users and buyers. My areas of greatest expertise are application integration; software development methods and tools; and data management/business intelligence. I was an early adopter of iterative software development and lean thinking (mid-1980s) and I\'m currently certified as a Professional Scrum Master and Professional Scrum Product Owner (through scrum.org).
