ABOUT BETTINA MARQUEZ
I became interested in pursuing cybersecurity a number of years ago and made the leap in August of 2021, enrolling in an intensive certification program through UCF and ThriveDX. Jumping in with both feet & learning all I could about this field was an experience I absolutely loved, and I relish the prospect of continuing this learning throughout my career! Having completed the Cyber Defense Professional Certificate program at the end of June, I began studying for the Security+ exam while reviewing & practicing all that I learned, including tackling a more comprehensive Python course for a stronger foundation there. Eventually, I believe I\'d like to find my place in DFIR, but I know I need more experience first. I am especially interested in the OT/ICS sector and am hoping to obtain a remote or hybrid position as a Jr. Cybersec Analyst with a company looking to make a difference and lead the way in this industry. Though my professional background is in the administrative field (and I really enjoyed dealing with high-level leaders in government & industry), I’ve always felt driven to pursue something more personally meaningful & make an impact. I originally left the workforce in order to raise my young kids and ended up spending the last 17 years homeschooling them & addressing their special needs while also managing personal rental properties along the way. My innate curiosity and love of learning, problem-solving, & helping others served me well in those endeavors, and I look forward to capitalizing on these strengths in my future roles.
