About Betsy Gehring

Betsy Gehring joined the McCain Institute of International Leadership at Arizona State University as deputy executive director in January 2017. She acts as chief operating officer, overseeing an annual budget of $13M and staff of 40. She manages and facilitates the strategic leadership and oversight of all day-to-day operations, which includes the financial oversight of the Institute, Board of Trustees initiatives, engagement and communications, collaborative relationships with Arizona State University as well as oversight of all program activities and Human Resources. Prior to joining the Institute, Betsy served as the director of delegate services for the 2016 Republican National Convention. She spent 20+ years in political and nonprofit fundraising, served as executive director for the March of Dimes and executive director of The President’s Dinner Committee as well as senior roles in health care and education over the course of her career. Despite her many achievements in the political arena and beyond, she considers her most important life’s work raising her two children, Catherine and Corbett. Betsy has lived all over the U.S. and also abroad. From Texas, to California, Costa Rica to Washington, D.C. she considers many places home.
