About Betsy Welch

I\'m a journalist at Outside Inc, where I primarily write about all things bike-related. I have covered topics ranging from the economic impact of gravel cycling in rural communities to profiles of professional athletes struggling with the transition to retirement. My race reporting is considered best in class, and I am frequently a guest on podcasts like the Adventure Stache and Girls Gone Gravel. In addition to bike writing, I frequently participate in races and events which gives me a rich understanding of my subject matter. Prior to transitioning to full time journalism, I worked as a Registered Nurse for nine years. As an RN, I honed my interviewing skills while working with underserved populations in Boulder County, Colorado. As a RN Case Manager at Boulder Community Health, I spearheaded a grant program focused on addressing the unique healthcare needs of the homeless population.My experience as an RN, coupled with my journalism and copywriting background, give me the unique skillset required for medical copywriting. I\'ve also dabbled in translation (I speak Spanish fluently), farming, tour guiding, and travel writing. I\'m a lifelong student who learns new things easily and is excited to do so.
