Preservation Kentucky is a membership-based statewide 501(c)(3) public charity nonprofit that advocates the sustainability of our historic buildings, rural landscapes and prehistoric sites. Our primary program areas are education and advocacy. Our goals are to help Kentuckians appreciate and maintain their heritage, advocate for preservation friendly legislation, and promote the economic development benefits of preserving our historic resources for quality of life, heritage tourism, neighborhood and downtown revitalization, and job creation.As stewards of historic preservation, we play a vital role in the protection and promotion of our state heritage, and are committed to preserving vestiges of all Kentuckians’ unique and diverse past. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate. We sponsor educational programs throughout the Commonwealth, and provide technical assistance to individuals, nonprofits, and local governments on important preservation projects and topics.Our state partner is the Kentucky Heritage Council, and our federal partners are Preservation Action and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. As Executive Director, my goals are to: 1) educate the citizens, communities and governments of Kentucky about the benefits of historic preservation; 2) advocate the preservation and protection of historic buildings, places and sites; 3) incentivize historic preservation with the Federal and Kentucky Historic Preservation Tax Credits; 4) promote the role historic preservation plays in downtown development, Main Street revitalization, neighborhood aesthetics, heritage tourism; heritage education, placemaking and pride of place; and, 5) quantify how historic preservation dollars contribute to job creation, economic development and community investment.
