I lead both the team of tutors and cohort of students. This involves giving a clear vision to the year group, as well as identifying key areas for improvement and planning appropriate actions to meet them.• I manage a deputy head of year and delegate the responsibilities of the role.• I monitor the quality of learning of the year group, liaising with heads of departments and offering support and guidance where necessary.• I promote the ethos of the school through leading daily line up and head of year assemblies • I manage the behaviour of students in the year group, meet with parents/carers and put the necessary support in place when required.• I oversee attendance, conduct home-visits and communicate with parents when attendance falls below the expected amount.• I work closely with the DSL and inclusion team on safeguarding issues and behaviour/attendance/pastoral concerns

ABOUT BETSY FREEMAN
BA(Hons)History graduate from The university of Manchester. Teach first 2020 cohort graduate. Received a distinction grade masters in education at UCL. I am a qualified history teacher with experience of teaching history to ages 11-18. I achieved a middle leadership position at a secondary school in SE London in my third year of teaching, as head of year 10, whilst completing my final year as a ECT trainee teacher. I am currently working as head of year 7. I am passionate about building education with character. I have contributed to the culture of my school by teaching dance and leading educational trips.
