Lead Communications Officer: Oversee communications and promote New York City’s work to address the needs of domestic and gender-based violence survivors; respond to media inquiries and manage media relationships targeting community-based outlets; coordinate with city agencies and offices on overlapping awareness campaigns including “Domestic Violence Awareness” month, “Sexual Violence Awareness” month, and “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” through media pitches, grass roots e-mailers, social media toolkits, and city landmarks exterior lightings. • Create press releases, advisories, speeches, and talking points for media interviews and public events. • Supervise Public-Facing Messaging: Create, monitor and/or copy edit content for website, social media, publications, and newsletters; manage paid / unpaid advertising campaigns including public service announcements through NYC & Company Intersection NYC Link kiosks, NYC Life & NYC Gov tv, NYC 91.5 FM WNYE radio, citywide agency on-hold phone system, and TV Taxi. • Increase brand awareness through earned media, samples at: VOLUNTARY Legislative Affairs Assistant: Liaise with federal, state and city representatives to help promote the passage of effective, well-informed legislation; assist in hearing preparation, office correspondence, and presentations; monitor federal, state and local legislation.
