ABOUT BETHSAIDA MERINO
I’m a junior Health Science major on the pre-med track at Stony Brook University, passionate about promoting cultural representation, equity, and inclusion within healthcare. As one of the three founders of Hispanics in Healthcare (HIH) at SBU, I’ve helped build an organization that empowers Hispanic and Latinx students pursuing careers in medicine and allied health. Through collaboration, leadership, and event coordination, I strive to create spaces where students can learn, connect, and celebrate their identities.I’m deeply driven by a passion to help and guide others, whether through supporting peers, fostering community, or mentoring those around me. My experiences have taught me that teamwork, empathy, and communication are essential to creating meaningful change and uplifting those around us.Beyond academics, I’m a musician who finds joy in using music to bring people together and spread positivity. I believe both healthcare and art share the same mission: to heal, inspire, and connect on a human level. My ultimate goal is to become a compassionate physician who advocates for underrepresented communities and bridges cultural gaps in medicine.
