About Beth Law
My career goals: Chief Counsel for Litigation, General Counsel at a trade association, or a senior Federal legal or policy position. The sum of my experience drives and supports these goals. After joining the staff as Assistant General Counsel at the Consumer Specialty Products Association, now rebranded as the Household and Commercial Products Association (HCPA) staff in June, 2007, shortly acquired other responsibilities, managing the Environmental Marketing and Claims Committee, Vice President for International Affairs, and then Vice President for Stewardship and Sustainability. My main responsibility initially was managing the Pest Management Products Division and its board. In 2008, I became VP for International Affairs and added the Environmental Marketing and Claims Committee to my responsibilities. I was promoted again in November 2014 when my responsibilities become more focused on sustainability issues, retail regulation, and stewardship. My previous experience includes toxic tort and products liability litigation, mass tort litigation, regulatory affairs, and general corporate counseling. Positions focusing on those areas were: 1) Chief Counsel, ATA Litigation Center, American Trucking Associations (ATA), where I ran the Litigation Center and the Law Department; 2) Interim Legal Director at Guidant Corporation (now part of Boston Scientific) where I managed commercial litigation, handled responses to government inquiries and investigations, and provided compliance counseling on business ethics and federal statutes; 3) Baxter International Inc, where I successfully managed mass tort litigation, settlements, and mediations involving silicone breast implants issues, related regulatory issues, and insurance coverage litigation with reserves approaching $1 billion; 4) Litigation Counsel at Dow AgroSciences, where I managed toxic tort litigation involving the company\'s pesticides and worked on related public relations and governmental affairs efforts; and, 5) U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Justice as a Trial Attorney defending the federal government in asbestos and other toxic tort litigation. Specialties: Mass tort and class action litigation, products liability litigation, insurance coverage litigation and regulatory matters-all involving pesticides, other chemicals, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and transportation.
