ABOUT BETHANY NEWCOMB

College of Business graduate focusing on Marketing and Chinese with a concentration in Business. Previously an Economics major, I was one of 165 students invited to graduate with honors and complete a collaborative research thesis in Economics alongside a faculty mentor. I opted for a Marketing track to better utilize my creative abilities, strong communication skills, and desire to connect with others. I am fascinated by foreign languages and currently study Mandarin in addition to Marketing. Earlier in my career, I participated in a graduate level research study analyzing the acquisition of Chinese as a second language for non-native Chinese speakers.I am a highly motivated and self-driven individual, as I am also in the beginning stages of teaching myself Russian to have a greater understanding of the various major language families and broaden my opportunities for communication in the business world. I have excellent English writing skills and participated as a journalist for both the school newspaper and yearbook in high school. I published an academic blog article online regarding Chinese- Latin American trade relations, and I’ve written several pieces of poetry and an article for a freelance student-run magazine on campus. I work with another student-run fashion publication on campus as a member of runway team operations to host our fifth bi-annual runway show.My other extracurriculars include having held positions of both Chancellor and VPSA of a professional business fraternity, performing volunteer work as a member for 8 other student organizations, and worked as a student ambassador in sales and advertising for an event promotions & marketing company geared towards college students. I have also interned as a Brokerage Manager’s and Realtors assistant, where I created digital marketing and mass email campaigns, introduced digital marketing tools to realtors, and guided agents on how to enhance digital promotion and increase exposure while maintaining client retention. I am Excel certified and skilled in business-related technology, as well as some design technology.I have a ferocious work ethic, work successfully both in a team and individually, and value learning new skills and strengthening my weaknesses. My varied background spans over several fields and excellently portrays my love of being involved, my interests and passions, connecting with the community, and creating productive employee-customer AND employee-employer relationships.I\'d love to talk!
