ABOUT BETH KARBOWSKI

As a Deaf professional working in global leadership and accessibility, I focus on Deaf employment, workplace inclusion, and cross-cultural experiences within Deaf communities worldwide. I collaborate on initiatives that support Deaf communities in navigating meaningful, accessible, and sustainable career pathways, and I share the stories that grow from these experiences.I am also a PhD scholar in Global Leadership and part of the Growing Regional Opportunities for Work for the Deaf (DeafGROW) team, supporting the development of Deaf employment centers in the Philippines and Việt Nam. My work centers on cross-cultural communication, partnership-building, and workplace accessibility. Through my PhD research, I explore global Deaf employability and how multinational companies can expand their accessibility practices in different cultural contexts overseas. I also explore emotional and cultural intelligence as part of my broader leadership research interests. My earlier role with the NTID Co-op and Career Center supported 90+ Deaf creative majors through student-centered programming and partnership development for employment opportunities. During that time, I also traveled to present NTID’s \"Working Together: Deaf and Hearing People\" model to employers, offering practical tools to improve communication, collaboration, and accessibility in the workplace. I’ve taught graphic design at the college level and consulted on accessible communications and branding for disability-led organizations. Before that, I led public relations and marketing efforts for a disability-led nonprofit, where I also built a graphic design internship pipeline.Today, I blend travel stories, research insights, Deaf mobility, and global perspectives through @GlobalDeafLens on Instagram. I also enjoy learning new sign languages, exploring cultural cuisines, rock climbing, and stand-up paddling.Let’s connect to explore meaningful ways to advance Deaf access and leadership on a global scale!
