Primary duties include providing individual counseling based on IEP goals, providing in-classroom supports and teaching Academic Applications class. Participated in student’s IEP meetings to provide input regarding social emotional goals and progress. Conducts crisis assessments and direct crisis intervention as needed. Develops strong working relationships with parents and guardians in order to collaborate on student needs outside of school. Collaborates with outside service providers in order to provide continuity of services between school counseling and outpatient therapy services. Participates in school wide Student Assessment Team meetings. Substitute teaches when the classroom teacher is not present in order to provide continuity of staffing to students. Advises classroom teachers on best practices in working with student’s social emotional needs. Coordinates with general education teachers to understand student’s progress outside of the sub separate classroom setting and provides support related to concerns in their classrooms.
