ABOUT BETH FULLER

I have been teaching for over 20 years and have been involved in both pastoral and academic leadership throughout my career. I have spent 10 years as a Head of Department managing the work of 11 staff and the History provision for 1,500 students aged 11 to 18. As of September 2017 I had the additional responsibility of Deputy Head of Sixth Form. From May 2022 to June 2024 I served as Director of Pedagogy & Staff Development, an SLT level post which involved recruitment, designing & delivering training for up to 400 people and monitoring/developing T&L across the school along with having oversight of staff development. I am also an examiner for AQA for A Level History My career has been spent in both the independent and state education sectors and, as such, I have a sound understanding of a diverse range of educational environments. Results driven, I doubled the uptake for IGSCE/A Level/IB History in two years in my current school and have dramatically improved the results record in public examinations at all levels. Beyond my department role, I have a wider interest in Teaching & Learning. Leading an internal PD working group on building resilience & running training sessions for new HoDs, I enjoy sharing my experience with a wide range of colleagues. Leading by example in the area of collegiate observations, I have expanded this beyond this History department to share good practice with colleagues from a wide range of departments. I have also run workshops for our parent body in supporting revision in examination year groups. Currently deputy chair of the Curriculum Committee at Westminster Academy Outside of education I am passionately interested in politics, human rights and international relations. This passion is something that I\'ve shared with my students, running school trips to a wide variety of locations including to Israel, scuba-diving in Malta and skiing in France. In my pastoral role I lived in a boarding house with 70 girls aged 13-18. I have always contributed to the co-curricular life of my schools; I produced and directed a number of theatrical productions and am a qualified scuba-diving instructor with BSAC. I thrive on a busy school environment where I can contribute to the lives of students in a positive way through my academic and co-curricular contributions.
