ABOUT BETH DAVIES
I have been working in the voluntary sector just over 20 years. A sharp career change from travelling and performing as an aerial circus artist across the UK and West Coast of America. After starting a family I was drawn to volunteering at a local community initiative engaging single parents living in LOA’s into affordable exercise programmes. Alongside this I was volunteering with the 125 Project in Bristol delivering outreach harm reduction to sex workers where risk taking behaviour was escalated further by the burgeoning crack cocaine explosion of the 1990’s.I took up a full time position with a relatively new Arrest Referral scheme. Advancing through the ranks swiftly- influenced by the exceptional individuals working in the service at that time. Their passion, commitment and dedication to delivering an excellent service to our clients kept me motivated and inspired.I was employed by EDP in 2007 originally implementing a new service in the County of Dorset with no presence prior to contract award or local infrastructure. This was a stretch for me but afforded much learning, and opportunity to apply a variety of leadership skills. As well as retaining this contract we successfully tendered for others in the County over the years, expanding the service and bringing in more diverse projects. I have also been tasked with leading on the implementation of Dorset prisons, taken an interim role as Director of Operations and over the last 18 months I have been the Devon and Dorset Area Manager. This involved our Social Enterprise Development programmes, Time Banking & Community Initiatives. Our Dorset Service has had an exemplary reputation for many years attributable to a very high performing, diverse and resilient team. I look forward to developing the Dorset integrated substance misuse contract (Reach) bringing value above and beyond and trail blazing for EDP who now subcontract an NHS trust to deliver medical interventions.
