Active member of The Diabetes Link, supporting young adults with Type 1 diabetes through peer support, education, and resources- Assisted nurses with community health screenings (blood sugar & blood pressure) at a Providence festival- Advocated for diabetes awareness while strengthening communication and outreach skills.As someone living with Type 1 diabetes, I am passionate about supporting others with the chronic illness and raising awareness in my community. Through my involvement with The Diabetes Link, a national nonprofit that empowers young adults with diabetes by providing peer support, resources, and education, I have dedicated time outside of lacrosse and academics to community health initiatives. For example, I assisted nurses with blood sugar screenings at a local festival in Providence, where we set up a tent offering free blood sugar and blood pressure tests while educating attendees about Type 1 diabetes. This experience allowed me to connect with the community, advocate for better diabetes education, and further develop my communication and outreach skills.
