ABOUT BESMA ABBAOUI
I was born in Algiers, Algeria and moved to the US when I was six years old. When I was born, I smiled instead of cried so my parents named me Besma which means Smile in Arabic -) I am truly passionate about the impact that food and nutrition has on health. I hold a PhD in Biomedical Science where I studied the ability of broccoli isothiocyanates to inhibit bladder cancer. I also hold a BS in Biochemistry. My work experience includes Program and Project Management, Clinical Research Coordination and Medical Billing. I also started a small business called The Smiling Chef where I taught healthful Mediterranean style cooking classes online. I currently serve as a Project Manager at Abbott Nutrition, a company I deeply respect for their scientifically driven, high quality nutritional products created for people at all stages of life so they can live life to the fullest!
